Jiaao Yu
Jiaao Yu was born in Guiyang, China. He completed his bachelor’s degree under Prof. Eldar Nebolsin at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” Berlin (HfM Berlin) and his master’s degree under Prof. Matthias Kirschnereit at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock. In 2024, he earned his Meisterklassenexamen under Prof. Hinrich Alpers at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden.
Since 2019, he has had the privilege of studying with Dr. Yossi Reshef, whose guidance has played a crucial role in shaping his piano performance and further academic development. Throughout his academic journey in Germany, Jiaao Yu attended numerous masterclasses with prominent musicians such as Klaus Bäßler, Dmitri Bashkirov, Jacques Rouvier, Grigory Gruzman, Bernd Goetzke, Oxana Yablonskaya, and Emanuel Krasovsky.
He has performed with the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock, Lüneburger Symphoniker, and Elbland Philharmonie Sachsen.
In addition to his work as a pianist, he has gained significant experience working with choirs. Since 2015, he has served as répétiteur for the Chinese Academic Choir Berlin, and since 2019, he has been the conductor of the “musicam amantes” Choir Berlin.
Starting in January 2025, Jiaao Yu will take up a faculty position at the College of Music at Guizhou Normal University.
